
Kediri, East Java. An altar shrine of Hindu era during Kediri kingdom made of large brick structure was found in a piece of land to be used for fish ponds in Hamlet Sumberjo, Tunglur Village, District Badas, Kediri, East Java.
According to the Institute for Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BPCB) Trowulan, the building indicated Kediri kingdom era relics because buried in the ground to a depth of almost similar to the site Tondowongso, Tondowongso Village, District Gurah, Kediri, both within approximately 15 kilometers.
Office of cultural heritage Trowulan admitted after fielded a team to excavate the building while the results are indicated as the shrine of Kediri kingdom era.
According to the owner of the land, Anik, the discovery of the historic building that began when he was digging in his garden for a fish pond. "At the time of digging I discovered large red brick. Then it is reported to the local village," he said
Report the discovery of a large red brick was then followed up by the department of cultural heritage Trowulan with fielded a team to conduct excavations. After going through the process of digging for three days finally found three buildings tower of brick structures and two statues of stone which has now been brought into service Trowulan cultural heritage.
According to the Chairman of the excavation team Harjo Lukito Nugroho, the building was originally estimated crate cracks because it is similar in the Rat Temple tower. "After digging turns seem a great altar that is ancillary buildings," said Nugroho.
Added Nugroho, when looking at the building, most likely the former over the third building is believed there are three statues of gods.
"The conclusion was drawn for the excavation team know if previously also found a perfect phallus which has a section Siwabaga, Wisnhubaga and Brahamabaga, where each god is located on top of the tower building," he said.
According to Nugroho, the building is indicated as a place of worship of Kediri Kingdom era. Because when the team did a comprehensive comparison with the findings Tondowongso site, the depth of the building and the architecture is almost the same.
"But the team did not know whether the altar dedicated to the royal or common people. But if you see the physical form is suppose to ordinary people," he said.
Excavation team recommends further research to find the sacred fence around the building.
"The research is important because based on the assessment team found a structure that is very good because it intact and in Kediri are rare. In addition, the team also recommends interpreter maintain and care in charge of protecting the building from damage and buried again because it sits in," he said .
While the garden land to be used for fish ponds, according to Anik, the wife of Romli landowners, now a crowded community.
