Dead elephant in Riau Located in Conservation Areas
     


             Pekanbaru, Riau - A Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) was found dead District of Uptown, Bengkalis, Riau. Parties NGO World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said that the location of the death of the adult elephants in the area of Wildlife.

      'It is a death in the area of King's Wildlife Center. It is a pity because we are in the Sumatran elephant conservation, "said WWF Riau Syamsidar publicist Tuesday (09/12/2014).

             He said that it is currently wildlife refuges King Hall has been transformed into residential areas and plantations. According to him, the village office in Uptown also be there.

Syamsidar elaborates that the current King Hall only has only 120 hectares of forest area. This is down from the area by the government with an area of 18,000 hectares since 1986.

      "Currently, the conservation area of King Hall was destroyed. Most finished oil palm plantations and settlements. Nothing better protect forests King Hall and his elephant," he concluded.

Elephant-related deaths in the King's Hall, WWF urges the Government to address serious legal handling. "Because there is no, no clear treatment-related laws elephant killings. Though already hundreds of dead elephants in Riau," he complained.
