TANGERANG - Head of Fisheries Cultivation Department of Fisheries and Maritime, Dwi Retno Susilaningsih on Wednesday (12/10/2014) explained, green shells that breed in polluted sea has some special characteristics.
"The first feature is of scent. Shells of sea green uncontaminated has a fresh smell and no foul," said Retno, Wednesday (12/10/2014).
The next feature is the structure of scallop meat itself. "The scallops were good to have a full and chewy meat. While shellfish contaminated meat generally has a soft and torn," she said again.
The final characteristics, Retno said, is the most obvious characteristic, but often neglected by consuming shellfish.
"Shellfish contaminated certainly have jet black bowels. It is evidence that the clams live in polluted sea. These characteristics are often missed because there is rarely buyers who check belly clam shells," said Retno again.
Retno added, all parts of the sea Tangerang it is not feasible anymore serve shellfish cultivation location.
"Cultivation of shells that either one of them exist in the region and Panimbang Pandeglang. Sea in Tangerang only for the cultivation of milkfish and shrimp. Kronjo, Mauk, and Pakuhaji is a coastal area that is still fairly good for the cultivation of marine products in addition to shells," she said .
