According to Asep, since the establishment of the Thousand Islands District Government 2001, only six islands were lost due to abrasion.
Asep said that instead of eight islands lost since the formation of the Thousand Islands regency government in 2001, but there are six islands were declared missing that kitchen island, Small Ayer, Small Potatoes, Sweet Large, Small Mosquitoes and Mosquito Large.
"The islands were lost due to abrasion of the sea and white sand theft. Do not identify land in the Thousand Islands to the mainland on the other islands, that here the land is made from layers of rock, while the other islands from the mountain sediment under the seabed , "Asep said when met at the offices Thousand Islands, Building Mitra Praja, Sunter, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Friday (19/12).
Asep explained, the sixth of the island has been declared missing since 1970 by the Decree of the Governor in 2000, on the Data Verification Name and Number Size Island.
"Not eight islands lost, but six of the island. It is based on the decree of the governor in 2000," said Asep.
In addition to abrasion, said Asep, the loss of the island because of the theft of the white sand beaches. If the sixth island was not stated, then the total number of islands in the region reached 115 islands.
"Overall the number of islands here there are 115 islands, but because there are six islands are sinking, the number to 109 islands," he said.
