Ken Arok, Villain and ancestor of the kings of the archipelago
            Ken Dedes and Ken Arok

Ken Arok was the son of Ni Ndok while the father of Ken Arok is still a mystery. After Ken Arok was born, Ni Ndok then left him alone in the woods because Ni Ndok bore Ken Arok in the woods. Until Gone thief named Ki Lembong. Then Ki Lembong make his son Ken Arok.

Ken Arok grown into a criminal because of their environment. He is one of the most hunted by soldiers Kediri kingdom for committing robbery, murder, rape and also do a commotion in the area Tumapel (now Malang city).

During the life in the pursuit he met a priest named Lohgawe. Lohgawe came to see that according to the vision of Ken Arok (divine being) received Lohgawe that Ken Arok that would defeat the king of Kediri, Kertajaya who abused the Brahmans.

With advice Lohgawe, Ken Arok was working on a ruler Akuwu Tumapel, Tunggul Ametung become soldiers escort. Ken Arok need weapon- keris- effective to kill Tunggul Ametung famous magic. Bango Samparan Ken Arok was introduced to her best friend named Mpu Gandring of Lulumbang village, now Plumbangan, Doko, Blitar is an expert maker of powerful heritage.

Mpu Gandring able to make a keris potent within a year. Ken Arok was impatient. Five months later he came to take the order. Back to Tumapel, Ken Arok with his plan to seize power Tunggul Ametung. At first he lent his inheritance dagger at Kebo Ijo, fellow guards. Kebo Ijo proudly displayed it as his dagger to all the people he met, so everyone thought that the dagger was owned Kebo Ijo. Thus, Ken Arok stratagem succeeded.

The next night, Ken Arok stole it from the hands keris Kebo Ijo being drunk wine. He then hacked into the bedroom Tunggul Ametung and kill his master was in bed. Ken Dedes to witness the murder of her husband. But his heart melted by Ken Arok seduction. Anyway, Ken Dedes married with Tunggul Ametung based on a sense of compulsion.

The next morning, Kebo Ijo executed for keris was found embedded in the bodies Tunggul Ametung. Ken Arok then appointed himself as the new akuwu Tumapel and married Ken Dedes. No one dared to oppose that decesion. Ken Dedes itself when it was pregnant with Tunggul Ametung.

Establish the Kingdom Tumapel (Singasari)

In 1222 a dispute between the king Kertajaya Kediri with the brahmins. Brahmins were choosing to move to seek protection Tumapel Ken Arok who happened to be preparing a rebellion against Kediri. After receiving their support, Ken Arok was declared Tumapel as an independent kingdom which separated from Kediri. As he first king the title of Lord Sri Rajasa Amurwabhumi

Kertajaya (in Pararaton called Dhandhang Gendis) not afraid to face the rebellion Tumapel. He claimed only be defeated by Bhatara Shiva. Hearing boasted that, Ken Arok was put on the title of Lord Shiva and ready to fight Kertajaya.

War between Kediri and Tumapel occurred near the village of Ganter. Kediri lost. Kertajaya reported up to the gods of nature, which may be a figure of speech to die.

Death of Ken Arok

Anusapati was surprised at the attitude of Ken Arok that seemed to make him stepson, but he felt as the eldest son. After urging his mother (Ken Dedes), finally Anusapati know if he really stepchildren. In fact, he also knows that his biological father named Tunggul Ametung have killed Ken Arok.

Anusapati managed to get Keris Mpu Gandring which have kept Ken Dedes. He then told her maid that comes from the village Batil to kill Ken Arok. Ken Arok was stabbed from behind while eating afternoon. Anusapati replace it kills aides to remove traces.

The death of Ken Arok in manuscript Pararaton occurred in 1247.

Keris Mpu Gandring disappeared along with the oath which was spoken by the Mpu Gandring.
