JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) will execute five convicts sentenced to death this month.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security (the minister), Tejo Edhy Purdijatno said, the fifth row inmates already have permanent legal force (inkracht).
"The President asked the authorities to carry out the legal process correctly. Things inkracht and is legally binding," said Tejo in Complex Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (12/04/2014).
According to him, the five convicts are mostly involved in drug cases and there is a foreign citizen. However, he said he did not know all the names of convicts to be executed.
"Later on the Attorney General who will explain. We will execute after waiting for a letter from the Attorney General, signed by the President," said Tejo.
According to him, there are 64 convicts on death row from a variety of cases. The government also will not hesitate to carry out the death penalty.
"The government will firmly in law enforcement," he said.
