In the region of Kebumen, Central Java, there are areas that enough to make people wonder if heard. The name of the region is Mirit, a district that borders Purworejo, Central Java.

Residents Kebumen, Banyumas, Banjarnegara and surroundings are familiar with the name Mirit. Mirit was once considered a thief and a robber village. This title is still a byword. If you do not believe, please ask the native people of Kebumen, on behalf Mirit, certainly the mind is the village thief.

First in the District is indeed a lot of thieves and robbers. Even supposedly said there was some sort of informal schools specifically for the thief.

"I used to be there that taught me. That taught me the old people who have former criminals," said Mas Fortunately, the seller of the food catfish in Tebet area from Kebumen in conversation with merdeka.com, Thursday (4/12).

Those who want to learn to be a thief or a robber will be taught the sciences to do evil tricks. Even also taught to escape after committing a crime.

"In order to qualify when a thief for example, must calculate a good day based on the market weton and born thief. There are certain days where prohibited so as not to hit unlucky thief," he said.

Fortunately confessed, when he was still in grade elementary school (1980s) many young people who learn to some parents in Mirit to be a thief. But this time, it is no longer.

"As far as I was used to, many thieves learn there. But now I think is not there," he explained.

However, Mirit name already overdo famous as the hometown of thieves and robbers. As a result of this south line that passes Kecematan Mirit quieter than vehicular traffic.

"There are paths through Ambal Yogya to continue Mirit, but the first track was deserted. Many do not dare to pass it for fear of being robbed at Mirit. People that to Yogya and Solo more select through city (Kebumen)," he explained.

If judging from the history, in the district area adjacent to Mirit Ambal indeed lived an extraordinarily powerful robber. In the book Abmal Chronicle, in the era of the Mataram kingdom ever riot in the Urut Sewu (entry area Ambal). A riot was caused by the act of a famous robber named Puja Gamawijaya powerful of magic.

The troops sent to quell Gamawijaya Mataram was always failed until finally made the contest. Anyone who can beat Gamawijaya, will be given a great gift by the palace of Mataram.

A short story of a headman named Wargantaka and son named Andaka join the contest and promised to beat Gamawijaya. Wargantaka not bragging, but he knew the weakness of the powerful robber as a teacher of magic.

Gamawijaya Andaka and finally defeated by his father. Beheaded on display in the market leaked. It is a warning that if making a scene then fate will be the same as Gamawijaya.

After defeating Gamawijaya, Andaka then be rewarded. But he did not ask for wealth, but a title and since then Andaka became the first regent in Ambal with the title Tumenggung Purbanagara.

Well supposedly existence as a village thief Mirit is often linked with Gamawijaya. When Gamawijaya killed, his men hid and hereditary remain a robber and a thief. But because of fear, they do it in secret and go away after successfully.
